What the work includes
Floor drains in one visit
- The drain, cover and water trap are inspected.
- The water flow is checked and the drain is cleaned where needed.
- Any visible defects and other findings are recorded apartment by apartment in an electronic report.
Why it's worth it
A small blockage can cause major damage
Hair, soap residue and other dirt gradually build up in a floor drain. At first the water just drains slowly or the drain starts to smell, but at worst the water cannot get into the drain and spreads across the floor. Water that gets into the structures of a wet room can cause moisture damage that costs many times more to repair than cleaning the drain.
Cleaning the drain is part of a resident's normal upkeep, but in practice it often goes undone. When every apartment's drain is inspected on the same round, the housing company knows that none has been missed, and any faults come to light in good time.

Findings are recorded for each apartment in an electronic report, showing the board what has been done and what is worth keeping an eye on.

Frequently asked questions
How much does the floor drain inspection cost?
The inspection costs €10.90 per apartment, including cleaning where needed. The price includes VAT. The total price for the housing company is agreed in advance at the free assessment.
How often should floor drains be cleaned?
It depends on use. The drains can be cleaned regularly, for example as part of an annual round, so that no drain goes uncleaned for years.
Do residents need to be at home?
Not necessarily. The round is agreed in advance and residents are told when it will take place. Access to the apartment is only needed once, even if other work is done at the same time.
What happens if a drain is faulty?
The finding is recorded in the report so that the board can decide what to do next. Repairing the drain is part of the housing company's maintenance, so the fault is worth fixing before it leads to damage.
